  4. bid by the opponents.  This includes raises in the
  5. major suit.

  7. But if I can't raise my partner's major suit bid
  8. and have only 9 points or less I usually pass (a
  9. hand I would have bid 1NT).  If my partner has a 
  10. strong hand, he or she will rebid the hand giving
  11. me a chance to bid again.

  13. Note in passing:   When responder bids 1NT after 
  14. the opposition bids 1S, it shows a balanced hand
  15. with 10 or 11 points and two stoppers in the
  16. opponent's suit.
